RAILWAY, TAXI, AIRPORT
INFORMATION ABOUT TRANSPORT
Brno is an ideal city to explore on foot. The distances in the historical center are very manageable, it only takes about 15 minutes to walk across the center. The walk to Špilberk Castle takes approximately 15 – 20 minutes. Public transportation is extremely well organized, runs frequently and on time, and is extensive. Automobile transportation in the center is very limited due to pedestrian zones. Parking in the center is possible only in public garages.
The city’s public transport system is completed by a commuter railway system that you can use to go to such places as the capital city of Prague, etc. The railway system covering the country is quite extensive and well complemented by an efficient bus system. For example, popular places like UNESCO-protected Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape are easily accessible. For specific info and trip planning, go to idos.cz or regiojet.com
Taxi are easy to find, especially at designated taxi spots marked by “FAIR PLACE TAXI” signs. It is cheaper to call a taxi service in advance. It is advisable to get a price estimate before entering a car. Uber is not working in Brno, instead you can use Liftago or Bolt application. It's literally the same thing as Uber but more local.

Brno is a very safe city. Of course, like anywhere in the world you may fall victim to pickpocketing, especially if you do not take common sense precautions. Be aware of this danger, even more so in the crowded areas (e.g. Brno hlavní nádraží – main train station) both on public transportation and when walking around. Watch
your bags, jackets and pockets. Do not leave your bag on the floor or on the back of your chair at restaurants or bars. It may disappear even if you think you or your dinner partner happen to be watching it. Do not leave anything in your coat pockets when hanging your coat on your chair or a coat rack. If you drive a car, if you have to leave your belongings in the car when parking, make sure everything is out of sight, especially electronics.
